By popular demand, this is a pic of the beef tongue (KUSHI!) at the Japanese restaurant Mugi located near Columbus Circle in New York City. The restaurant is a little out of the way and it's hours are unpredictable, but the food is great. The tongue- sliced thinly, grilled with a little salt and lemon sprinkled on top- ahh bliss.The dish below was this roll that was fried on the outside with pork inside (I think- fougoo, a little help?).

yep, it was negimaki -- rolled beef, i think, with scallions -- deep-fried. i think usually negimaki is steamed, so the fried version blows that out of the water...
you eat all kinds of stuff, dontcha?
